"Controlling the serpent-like life force (Kundalini) so that it does not wander aimlessly, and thereby realizing the pure divine Light, one attains liberation. Burning away the darkness of sinful karma in the fire of spiritual wisdom, one establishes oneself upon the radiant jeweled throne of supreme consciousness.
Immersing oneself in the boundless supreme space beyond all worlds and merging with the infinite state of Arunachala (the Absolute), may I shine in the effulgence of You, O Lord who rides the peacock and bears the Vel (divine spear), and attain the glorious state of eternal salvation.
O heroic One who hurled Your Vel and destroyed the mighty demons, the vast oceans, the towering mountains, and the illusory fortresses of evil!
O Lord who embraced Valli in the forest of the tribal hunters, holding her by the feet and imparting the sacred teaching signified by the mystical syllable 'Om'!
O Bestower of Divine Power, who subdues even Yama (the god of death), and who remains as the supreme Shakti when the worlds dissolve at the end of time!
O Great Lord who rides the beautiful peacock and dwells in the temple city with its lofty towers, protecting the world from the beginning of time—grant me Your grace so that I may attain the supreme abode of liberation."
