O Lord, who is my mother and my uncle (my only support and protector),
do not allow me to be trapped in this false body, filled with delusion and worldly attachment.
Before this life sinks and perishes,
before I drown in the waters of sorrow and suffering,
please come and save me.
O Lord of compassion, look upon me;
grant me the grace of your glorious lotus feet.
O heroic one who pierced and defeated the mighty enemies with your spear,
who is worshipped by Brahmā, Vishnu, and all the celestial beings,
and whose divine form shines beyond their understanding.
O Son of Shiva, O Vel-bearing Lord, O beautiful one, O King,
O Divine One, O great Lord of the devas,
please bless me with your grace.
(This is a devotional verse addressed to Lord Murugan/Subrahmanya, expressing surrender, seeking liberation from worldly illusion, and praying for the grace of His divine feet.)
