If I were to measure the sands of the seven seas,
the suffering caused by my countless births would still be greater.
O Lord, now I cannot bear to live without your grace;
my life and body cannot continue without you.
When the time comes, my body may be taken away by vultures,
jackals, fire, earth, Yama (the god of death), and even Brahma may become troubled.
Therefore, as your servant and slave,
please quickly grant me the refuge of your sacred feet.
O Muruga, who is accompanied by the pure and compassionate Goddess Valli,
whose beauty shines like a green emerald form,
come riding swiftly on your mighty peacock,
whose force can shake the vast earth and crush the great mountains.
O Lord who holds the powerful spear (Vel),
which devours the lives of demons like prey
while the seven seas roar in fear,
O Great One who dances in the sacred town of Puliyur,
praised by the immortals and sages,
please bless me with your divine grace.
