O Lord, whose sacred name is constantly chanted!
“Let the feet of the devotees who wear the flower-like feet of the great sages who follow the Agamas be my only refuge,”
— this is the prayer I utter every day.
“O Lord who rides the peacock, O Guha, O Saravana,
You are my God, my very life and my honour,”
— this is the thought that always resounds within me.
When I ask, “Who will remove the suffering and sorrow of the poor like me?”
Will not those who praise You, and even the Vedas themselves, declare Your greatness?
O Vel-bearing Lord, whose beautiful body is adorned with sacred ash,
who rides the blue peacock,
You are the child blessed by Mother Uma.
O Lord with the mighty Vel,
destroy all my sins and evil deeds,
and let the bonds of my karmic sufferings be cut away forever.
O Lord who destroys the fierce demons who rise in anger,
O companion and protector of Lord Ganesha,
whose glory extends beyond even the vast cosmic worlds!
O beautiful Lord of Palani,
O Kumara who resides there,
O Muruga, the supreme Lord who grants blessings even to Brahma and the gods,

Overall meaning:
This hymn is a heartfelt surrender to Lord Murugan. The devotee praises Murugan’s divine forms, his Vel (spear) that destroys evil, his compassion toward the poor and suffering, and seeks his grace to remove sins, sorrows, and worldly bondage.
