வாசித்து

That which cannot be read,
that which cannot be worshipped outwardly,
that which cannot be spoken aloud —
it can only be realized within the heart.

That which cannot be perceived by the impure,
that which cannot be fully described even by the loving devotees,
that which cannot be surrounded or bound by illusion —
O Lord of the Primal Sound and Divine Seed!

You are beyond the reach of sound,
you are the one who pierces and transcends the vastness of space,
you are the origin and source of all worlds.
Yet, I, this helpless one, have come seeking you.

Teach me the way to attain Yoga,
grant me true spiritual wisdom,
and do not allow this body and mind, filled with impurities,
to remain lost in delusion.

O Kandavel,
I have become deeply attached to the desire for the beautiful huntress (Valli),
and I long only to worship your golden feet.

O brave warrior who rides the peacock,
who wears the radiant garland,
who dwells in the fertile fields of Vayalur where fish leap in the waters,
and whose glory shines everywhere!

O Lord who stands beyond the reach even of the yogis
who practice controlling the life-breath within the nostrils
and seek the highest states of meditation!

O Lord of the sacred mountain where the serpent’s branch rises
and touches the lofty clouds,
O divine Master and Lord of the sages of Siramalai —
I bow to you.

Essence: The poet says that Murugan is the indescribable Supreme Reality beyond speech, perception, sound, space, and illusion. Only inner realization can reach Him. The poet humbly prays for true yoga, wisdom, freedom from worldly delusion, and the grace of Murugan’s divine feet.
