O Lord and Guru!
You who cooled the mind of Lord Shiva by teaching him the sacred mantra, and who whispered it into his ear,
O Son of Shiva and Parvati, beloved child of Sivakami Sundari!
I do not think of your divine feet and instead wander in this world, caught in the illusion of worldly desires.
I, your humble servant, have been wandering uselessly, trapped by ignorance and delusion.
Please come to me and say, “Do not fear.”
Grant me the bliss of divine wisdom,
so that my awareness may grow and my sufferings and troubles may disappear.
O nephew of Lord Rama, who rejoiced in your playful act of stealing butter and being tied to the mortar!
O Lord praised and worshipped by all the nine worlds,
O one who possesses the noble and wondrous divine power!
O wielder of the mighty radiant spear (Vel),
beloved husband of Deivayanai and Valli, whose glorious valour surpasses all!
O great Lord Muruga, who resides at Tiruvavinankudi,
the one who revealed the true reality of the universe,
the powerful and victorious Lord!
