Piravi perungadal neenduvar neendaar Iraiavan adiiseraadhaar.

🌐 English Translation

Those who do not seek refuge at the feet of God will not be able to cross the great ocean of births; those who do will cross it.

இறைவனின் திருவடிகளை அடையாதவர்கள் பிறவிக் கடலை கடக்கமாட்டார்கள்; அடைந்தவர்கள் கடல் நீந்துவர்.

💡 English Meaning

The closing kural of the first chapter reaffirms the entire chapter's message: the ocean of repeated births (samsara) can only be crossed through divine surrender. This is Valluvar's statement on liberation — not through rituals or learning alone, but through taking refuge at God's feet. A perfect circular completion of the chapter.
