அறவாழி அந்தணன் தாள்சேர்ந்தார்க் கல்லால்பிறவாழி நீந்தல் அரிது.
🔤 Transliteration
Aravaazhil anthaanann thal serndhaarkkallaal Piravaazhi neendhal arithu.
🌐 English Translation
For those who do not take refuge at the feet of the Brahman (holy one) who is the ocean of virtue, it is difficult to cross the other oceans (of life).
🌸 தமிழ் பொருள்
அறமாகிய கடலை உடையவனான கடவுளின் திருவடிகளை அடைந்தவர்களுக்கு அல்லாமல் மற்றவர்களுக்கு மற்ற கடல்களை (பிறவிக் கடலை) கடப்பது கடினம்.
💡 English Meaning
God is the 'ocean of virtue' (Aravazhi). Life's difficulties — the ocean of birth and rebirth — can only be crossed by those anchored to this divine ocean. Without divine refuge, crossing life's turbulent waters is nearly impossible. Valluvar uses the metaphor of oceans to show: surrender to the ocean of virtue to cross the ocean of suffering.
