இல்வாழ்வான் என்பான் இயல்புடைய மூவர்க்கும்நல்லாற்றின் நின்ற துணை.

Ilvaazhvaan enpaan iyalbudaiya moovarkum Nallaatrin nindra thunai.

The householder is the support who stands in the right path for the other three (orders of life) who have their natural duties.

இல்வாழ்வான் (குடும்பத்தலைவன்), இயற்கையான கடமைகளை உடைய மற்ற மூவருக்கும் (பிரம்மசாரி, வானப்பிரஸ்தன், சன்னியாசி) நல்வழியில் நிற்கும் துணையாவான்.
💡 English Meaning
The householder (illvaazhvaan) is the pillar of society — the other three life stages (student/brahmacharya, forest-dweller/vanaprastha, renunciant/sannyasa) all depend on the householder's support. Without functioning households, the other three cannot exist. Valluvar elevates domestic life as the foundation of all spiritual orders.
