📖 அதிகார விளக்கம்
இல்வாழ்க்கை அதிகாரம் குடும்ப வாழ்க்கையை அறத்தின் மையமாகக் காட்டுகிறது. தனக்காக மட்டும் அல்லாமல் குடும்பம், விருந்தினர், சுற்றம், சமூகம் ஆகியோருக்குப் பயன் தரும் வாழ்வே சிறந்த இல்லறம் என்று இந்த அதிகாரம் சொல்கிறது.
🌐 Adhikaram Meaning
This chapter presents domestic life as a noble form of virtue. A good householder supports family, guests, relatives and society, making the home a place where moral life is practised.

குறள் 41
இல்வாழ்வான் என்பான் இயல்புடைய மூவர்க்கும்
நல்லாற்றின் நின்ற துணை.
The householder is the support who stands in the right path for the other three (orders of life) who have their natural duties.
குறள் 42
துறந்தார்க்கும் துவ்வாதவர்க்கும் இறந்தார்க்கும்
இல்வாழ்வான் என்பான் துணை.
The householder is the support for renunciants, for those who are destitute, and for the departed (ancestral rites).
குறள் 43
தென்புலத்தார் தெய்வம் விருந்தொக்கல் தானென்றாங்கு
ஐம்புலத்தாறு ஓம்பல் தலை.
To maintain the five duties — to ancestors, to God, to guests, to relatives, and to oneself — is the chief duty.
குறள் 44
பழியஞ்சிப் பாத்தூண் உடைத்தாயின் வாழ்க்கை
வழியெஞ்சல் எஞ்ஞான்றும் இல்.
If life is lived avoiding blame and with shared food, that life will never fall short of its path.
குறள் 45
அன்பும் அறனும் உடைத்தாயின் இல்வாழ்க்கை
பண்பும் பயனும் அது.
If domestic life is filled with love and virtue, that itself is its refinement and fruit.
குறள் 46
தருமம் செய்யும் துறவி பெரியன்
மருமம் வல்லன் இல்வாழ்வான் சிறியன்.
Greater is the renunciant who performs duty; smaller is the householder who knows the secret (but doesn't act).
குறள் 47
இயல்பினான் இல்வாழ்க்கை வாழ்பவன் என்பான்
மயலின்மை மாண்பயன் உடைத்து.
He who lives domestic life by natural virtue — his living is of noble value, free from delusion.
குறள் 48
ஆற்றின் ஒழுக்கி அறனிழுக்கா இல்வாழ்க்கை
நோற்பவர்க்கு எல்லாம் தவம்.
Domestic life that flows on the right path and does not stray from virtue is the highest penance for all ascetics.
குறள் 49
அளவளாவி இல்லாள்க்கு இல்லாயின் வாழ்க்கை
களவளா வாடிற்றன்று.
If the wife does not have the quality of compatible conversation, the household is not like a household — it is just empty space.
குறள் 50
வையத்துள் வாழ்வாங்கு வாழ்பவன் வான்உறையும்
தெய்வத்துள் வைக்கப் படும்.
He who lives in this world as one should live will be placed among the gods who dwell in heaven.
