📖 அதிகார விளக்கம்
வான் சிறப்பு அதிகாரம் மழையின் பெருமையை விளக்குகிறது. மழை உலகிற்கு அமுதம் போன்றது; உணவு, விவசாயம், பசுமை, கடல் சுழற்சி, பூஜை, தானம், தவம், சமூக ஒழுக்கம் ஆகிய அனைத்தும் மழையுடன் தொடர்புடையவை என்று திருவள்ளுவர் கூறுகிறார். நீர் இல்லாமல் உலகம் நிலைக்காது; அதுபோல் மழை இல்லாமல் அறமும் வாழ்வும் செழிக்காது என்பதே இந்த அதிகாரத்தின் மையக் கருத்து.
🌐 Adhikaram Meaning
This chapter explains the greatness of rain. Valluvar shows that rain is like nectar to the world because it sustains food, farming, grass, oceans, worship, charity, penance and social order. The central idea is that water is necessary for life, and rain is necessary for the moral and material order of the world.

வான்நின்று உலகம் வழங்கி வருதலால்
தான்அமிழ்தம் என்றுணரற் பாற்று.
Since rain sustains the world by falling from the sky, rain is to be understood as nectar (ambrosia).
குறள் 12
துப்பார்க்குத் துப்பாய துப்பாக்கித் துப்பார்க்குத்
துப்பாய தூஉம் மழை.
Rain produces food for those who eat; rain is also food for those who eat — rain is all in all.
குறள் 13
விண்இன்று பொய்ப்பின் விரிநீர் வியனுலகத்து
மண்இன்று ஒழியாது மன்.
If the rains were to fail, the broad ocean-girt world would cease to exist — certainly.
குறள் 14
ஏரின் உழாஅர் உழவர் புயல்என்னும்
பேரும்புல் பாம்ப இரா.
Farmers will not plough with the plough if the great cloud called 'storm' does not rain.
குறள் 15
கெடுப்பதூஉம் கெட்டார்க்குச் சார்வாய்மற் றாங்கே
விடுப்பதூஉம் வீழ்செஞ் சுடர்.
The sun both ruins (by evaporating water) and provides refuge to the ruined — the same blazing sun also releases (rain).
குறள் 16
சிறப்பொடு பூசனை செல்லாது வானம்
வறக்குமேல் வானொரு தூவு.
If the rains fail, even the special ceremonies of worship will not proceed — even sacrificial offerings to God will stop.
குறள் 17
நெடும்கடலும் தன்நீர்மை குன்றும் தடிந்தெழிலி
தண்சாரல் பெய்யாக் கடை.
Even the vast ocean will diminish if the heavy clouds do not pour cool rain.
குறள் 18
சிறந்த மழையும் மலையும் நில்லாது
மறந்தார் கண் மாய்வது இல்.
If rain fails, there will be no grass; if there is no grass, there will be no cattle; if there is no cattle, there is nothing.
குறள் 19
தானம் தவமிரண்டும் தங்கா வியனுலகம்
வானம் வழங்கா தெனின்.
Charity and penance — these two will not remain in the wide world if rain ceases to fall.
குறள் 20
ஒண்டொடி யோரும் உடன்மிழைத்தோரும்
கண்டவ ரெல்லாம் மழை.
Those who wear bright bracelets and those who offer sacrifices together — all of these are (possible because of) rain.
