விருந்தோம்பல் அதிகாரம் இல்லறத்தின் முக்கிய கடமையாக விருந்தினரைப் போற்றுவதைக் கூறுகிறது. தன் வீட்டில் வந்தவர்களை மதித்து உணவளிப்பதும், பகிர்ந்து வாழ்வதும் அறநெறி என இந்த அதிகாரம் விளக்குகிறது.

குறள் 81
இருந்தோம்பி இல்வாழ்வ தெல்லாம் விருந்தோம்பி
வேளாண்மை செய்தற் பொருட்டு.
The purpose of nurturing wealth and leading a family life,nis to be able to be hospitable to guests.
குறள் 82
விருந்து புறத்ததாத் தானுண்டல் சாவா
மருந்தெனினும் வேண் டற்பாற் றன்று.
Even if you have nectar that will assure immortality,nit is not appreciable to dine alone, leaving the guests out.

வருவிருந்து வைகலும் ஓம்புவான் வாழ்க்கை
பருவந்து பாழ்படுதல் இன்று.
One who is hospitable to guests everydaynnever suffers because of that.

அகனமர்ந்து செய்யாள் உறையும் முகனமர்ந்து
நல்விருந்து ஓம்புவான் இல்.
The Goddess of wealth will reside happily with someonenwho attends to his guests with a smile on the face.

வித்தும் இடல்வேண்டும் கொல்லோ விருந்தோம்பி
மிச்சில் மிசைவான் புலம்.
Does one even need to sow his field, if he always eatsnonly what remains after feeding his guests?

செல்விருந்து ஓம்பி வருவிருந்து பார்த்திருப்பான்
நல்வருந்து வானத் தவர்க்கு.
One who is hospitable to his guests, and when they leave,nawaits his next guests, will be a welcome-guest in the heavens.

இனைத்துணைத் தென்பதொன் றில்லை விருந்தின்
துணைத்துணை வேள்விப் பயன்.
We can’t quantify the benefits of hospitality; it is limitednonly by the quality of the guests.

பரிந்தோம்பிப் பற்றற்றேம் என்பர் விருந்தோம்பி
வேள்வி தலைப்படா தார்.
Those who dont take up hospitality as a spiritual ritual,nwill later repent that they have lost the wealth they loved.

உடைமையுள் இன்மை விருந்தோம்பல் ஓம்பா
மடமை மடவார்கண் உண்டு.
There are fools who choose to be poor despite possessing wealth,nby not being hospitable to guests.

மோப்பக் குழையும் அனிச்சம் முகந்திரிந்து
நோக்கக் குநழ்யும் விருந்து.
The flower, anicham, shrivels when it is smelt. A guest will wiltnif the host’s face betrays the slightest twitch.
