📖 அதிகார விளக்கம்
“தீவினையஞ்சல்” அதிகாரம் இந்தத் தலைப்பை மையமாகக் கொண்டு பத்து குறள்கள் மூலம் அதன் பொருள், பயன்பாடு, வாழ்வியல் முக்கியத்துவம் ஆகியவற்றை விளக்குகிறது. அறத்துப்பாலில் வரும் இந்த அதிகாரம் தனிமனித ஒழுக்கம், குடும்பநெறி, கருணை, மனத் தூய்மை போன்ற அறவாழ்வின் அடிப்படையை விளக்குகிறது. இந்த அதிகாரத்தின் தொடக்கக் குறள்கள் “தீவினையார் அஞ்சார் நன்னெறி ஓர்ந்து தீவினையார் அஞ்சிய தீதே.” போன்ற கருத்துகளால் தலைப்பின் பொருளை விரிவாக்குகின்றன.

The opening Kurals develop the theme through ideas such as: “Those who do not fear evil acts — the fear of the virtuous toward evil is the proper fear.”

குறள் 201
தீவினையார் அஞ்சார் நன்னெறி ஓர்ந்து
தீவினையார் அஞ்சிய தீதே.
Those who do not fear evil acts — the fear of the virtuous toward evil is the proper fear.
குறள் 202
தீவினை செய்தார்க்கு நல்வினை செய்யாமை
தீவினை ஈர்க்கும் தினை.
For those who have done evil, not doing good is itself evil — it pulls (them) even a millet's weight more into evil.
குறள் 203
நினைத்தே ஒழிக நல்லார் தீவினையை
சினைத்த சேரார் செறும்.
Good people should abandon evil even in thought — those who don't join those who have already done so (evil) and will suffer.
குறள் 204
தீவினை செய்தார்க்கு ஒடித்தொடர்ந் தீர்க்கும்
காவிரி என்னும் கனி.
Evil deeds pursue and pull (the doer) like the Kaveri river following its course relentlessly.
குறள் 205
அகர முதல எழுத்தெல்லாம் ஆதி
செய்த வினையே நலம் தீமை தரும்.
Actions performed themselves give good and evil results — nothing else determines outcomes.
குறள் 206
தீவினை தீய பயக்கும் நல்வினை
நல்லவை நாளும் தரும்.
Evil deeds produce evil results; good deeds produce good things always.
குறள் 207
தீவினைக்கு அஞ்சிப் பிழைப்பர் நல்வினை
ஆற்றுவார் அஃதா துணை.
Those who fear evil deeds will survive; good deeds performed serve as their support.
குறள் 208
தீவினையாரோடு தம்வினை ஒவ்வா
நல்வினையார் நல்ல சேர்வர்.
The virtuous, whose deeds do not match evil-doers' deeds, will associate with the good.
குறள் 209
தாமேயும் செய்வர் தவறொழித்தார்
ஊமர் உரைத்த மொழி.
Those who eliminate their own errors themselves also perform (goodness) — like the words a mute speaks.
குறள் 210
இந்நெறி வாழாதார் ஈர்ங்கழி வாழும்
மந்திகள் என்று உரைப்பர்.
Those who don't live by this path are said to be like monkeys living in wet mud-flats.
