“குறிப்பறிவுறுத்தல்” அதிகாரம் இந்தத் தலைப்பை மையமாகக் கொண்டு பத்து குறள்கள் மூலம் அதன் பொருள், பயன்பாடு, வாழ்வியல் முக்கியத்துவம் ஆகியவற்றை விளக்குகிறது. காமத்துப்பாலில் வரும் இந்த அதிகாரம் காதல், மனஉணர்வு, கூடல், பிரிவு, ஊடல் போன்ற அக வாழ்க்கையின் நுண்ணிய உணர்ச்சிகளை கவிதைநயத்துடன் வெளிப்படுத்துகிறது. இந்த அதிகாரத்தின் தொடக்கக் குறள்கள் “கரப்பினுங் கையிகந் தொல்லாநின் உண்கண்nஉரைக்கல் உறுவதொன் றுண்டு.” போன்ற கருத்துகளால் தலைப்பின் பொருளை விரிவாக்குகின்றன.

This Adhikaram focuses on “On Speaking on the Signs”. Its ten Kurals explain what this virtue or life situation means, why it matters, and how it should be understood in real life. As part of the Book of Love, it belongs to the poetic treatment of inner emotions, union, separation, longing and lovers’ subtle feelings. The opening Kurals develop the theme through ideas such as: “Though you would conceal (your feelings), your painted eyes would not, for, transgressing (their bounds), they tell (me) something.”

Though you would conceal (your feelings), your painted eyes would not, for, transgressing (their bounds), they tell (me) something.

கண்ணிறைந்த காரிகைக் காம்பேர்தோட் பேதைக்குப்
பெண்நிறைந்த நீர்மை பெரிது.
Unusually great is the female simplicity of your maid whose beauty fills my eyes and whose shoulders resemble the bamboo.

மணியில் திகழ்தரு நூல்போல் மடந்தை
அணியில் திகழ்வதொன்று உண்டு.
There is something that is implied in the beauty of this woman, like the thread that is visible in a garland of gems.

முகைமொக்குள் உள்ளது நாற்றம்போல் பேதை
நகைமொக்குள் உள்ளதொன் றுண்டு.
There is something in the unmatured smile of this maid like the fragrance that is contained in an unblossomed bud.

செறிதொடி செய்திறந்த கள்ளம் உறுதுயர்
தீர்க்கும் மருந்தொன்று உடைத்து.
The well-meant departure of her whose bangles are tight-fitting contains a remedy that can cure my great sorrow.

பெரிதாற்றிப் பெட்பக் கலத்தல் அரிதாற்றி
அன்பின்மை சூழ்வ துடைத்து.
The embrace that fills me with comfort and gladness is capable of enduring (my former) sorrow and meditating on his want of love.

எழுநாளேம் மேனி பசந்து.

தொடிநோக்கி மென்தோளும் நோக்கி அடிநோக்கி
அஃதாண் டவள்செய் தது.

காமநோய் சொல்லி இரவு.
