“நடுவு நிலைமை” அதிகாரம் இந்தத் தலைப்பை மையமாகக் கொண்டு பத்து குறள்கள் மூலம் அதன் பொருள், பயன்பாடு, வாழ்வியல் முக்கியத்துவம் ஆகியவற்றை விளக்குகிறது. அறத்துப்பாலில் வரும் இந்த அதிகாரம் தனிமனித ஒழுக்கம், குடும்பநெறி, கருணை, மனத் தூய்மை போன்ற அறவாழ்வின் அடிப்படையை விளக்குகிறது. இந்த அதிகாரத்தின் தொடக்கக் குறள்கள் “தகுதி எனவொன்று நன்றே பகுதியால்nபாற்பட்டு ஒழுகப் பெறின்.” போன்ற கருத்துகளால் தலைப்பின் பொருளை விரிவாக்குகின்றன.

When the heart falters to think unfairly, be alertednthat you are on course for ruination.

நன்றிக்கண் தங்கியான் தாழ்வு.
The world will not think ill of one who has stumbled into povertynbecause of being fair and righteous.

Like a weighing scale that is balanced and sways correctly,nthe grace of noble scholars lies in dispassionate assessment.

சொற்கோட்டம் இல்லது செப்பம் ஒருதலையா
உட்கோட்டம் இன்மை பெறின்.
It is righteous to speak words that are not deviant; such wordsnare a result of unbiased thoughts that are not deviant.
