'யார் கொடுத்தார்?' என்று கேட்க, மூன்று வயது குழந்தை சிவனை நோக்கி விரல் காட்டி தேவாரம் பாடியது — 'தோடுடைய செவியன்.' திருஞானசம்பந்தர் வாழ்நாளில் 4200-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட பாடல்கள் பாடினார், பல அற்புதங்கள் நிகழ்த்தினார்.
The infant Thirugnanasambandar was left alone in a temple courtyard in Sirkazhi and cried. Shiva told Parvati to feed the child. She descended as a mother and offered divine milk from her sacred hand. When his father returned, milk flowed from the 3-year-old's lips. Asked who gave it, the child pointed to Shiva and sang the first Thevaram hymn: 'Thodudaiya Seviyan.' He went on to compose over 4,200 devotional songs praising Shiva across Tamil Nadu temples.
