“ஆள்வினையுடைமை” அதிகாரம் இந்தத் தலைப்பை மையமாகக் கொண்டு பத்து குறள்கள் மூலம் அதன் பொருள், பயன்பாடு, வாழ்வியல் முக்கியத்துவம் ஆகியவற்றை விளக்குகிறது. பொருட்பாலில் வரும் இந்த அதிகாரம் சமூக வாழ்வு, அரசியல், தலைமை, நீதிநிலை, நட்பு, சொல், செயல் போன்ற நடைமுறை வாழ்க்கை நெறிகளை விளக்குகிறது. இந்த அதிகாரத்தின் தொடக்கக் குறள்கள் “அருமை உடைத்தென்று அசாவாமை வேண்டும்nபெருமை முயற்சி தரும்.” போன்ற கருத்துகளால் தலைப்பின் பொருளை விரிவாக்குகின்றன.

இன்மை புகுத்தி விடும்.
Effort creates wealth;nlack of it induces poverty.

Thus they speak : the angel of poverty resides with the sluggard;nthe lotus-residing angel of wealth rests on the efforts of the unsluggish.

பொறியின்மை யார்க்கும் பழியன்று அறிவறிந்து
ஆள்வினை இன்மை பழி.
Lack of good fortune brings not disgrace; not gaining requisite knowledge,nand not persisting, is disgraceful.

தெய்வத்தான் ஆகா தெனினும் முயற்சிதன்
மெய்வருத்தக் கூலி தரும்.
Even if God has given up, perseverance will paynthe wages for one’s efforts.

ஊழையும் உப்பக்கம் காண்பர் உலைவின்றித்
தாழாது உஞற்று பவர்.
They will triumph over fate –nthey who persevere resolutely without respite.
