“தகையணங்குறுத்தல்” அதிகாரம் இந்தத் தலைப்பை மையமாகக் கொண்டு பத்து குறள்கள் மூலம் அதன் பொருள், பயன்பாடு, வாழ்வியல் முக்கியத்துவம் ஆகியவற்றை விளக்குகிறது. காமத்துப்பாலில் வரும் இந்த அதிகாரம் காதல், மனஉணர்வு, கூடல், பிரிவு, ஊடல் போன்ற அக வாழ்க்கையின் நுண்ணிய உணர்ச்சிகளை கவிதைநயத்துடன் வெளிப்படுத்துகிறது. இந்த அதிகாரத்தின் தொடக்கக் குறள்கள் “அணங்குகொல் ஆய்மயில் கொல்லோ கனங்குழைnமாதர்கொல் மாலும் என் நெஞ்சு.” போன்ற கருத்துகளால் தலைப்பின் பொருளை விரிவாக்குகின்றன.
